Prudential Securities
Mr.
Carapola was retained by the CIO of
Prudential Securities (PSI) to spearhead
the development and implementation of all technology for PSI’s
new 1 New York Plaza Operations and Back Office facility.
This facility occupied 1.4 million square feet of space,
representing approximately 50% of the floors in the building.
Following successful completion of the
Back Office Processing Center, Mr.
Carapola built the infrastructure to support approximately
6,000 employees, managed the technical services involved in
moving those employees into the new location, and provided
user level technical support.
Mr. Carapola was a member of the trading
systems design team, defining a new trading floor environment
for approximately 800 traders. He led the initiative to build the
Trading Floors, install the new systems and communications
environments and move 800 traders into their new locations.
A key component of
the Back Office processing environment was the need to provide
Redundancy and Disaster Recovery. This project addressed
those components associated with the basic services, power and
communications. Communications redundancy was provided
by assuring that multiple redundant paths were available for
all services.
