Prudential Securities - Tape Silos and Library 

Prudential Securities Mainframe Data Center consisted of three large IBM Mainframe processors,  a large DASD environment,  three front end processors, and Six Storage Tek Tape Library Silos, each supporting up to 6000 tapes.

Art Carapola participated in the selection of the Tape Library systems, and managed the installation, testing and cutover of the systems.

The bottom line, however, was that the transition to the Silos delivered a major productivity improvement to the organization. Application processing time decreased substantially, while manpower was cut.
