Major US Bank

Business Continuity Resiliency Strategy – The client Bank has grown dramatically over the past few years through acquisition.  In most all such situations, the integration of the merged entities causes a series of challenges both from a business perspective and technically.  One such challenge is the ability to ensure that critical business data is always available according to the needs of specific mission critical applications (referred to as Recovery Point – how much data can be lost during a system failure).  This is driven by how data is being replicated (copied) to a backup site in the event of a system failure (or disaster).  The client Bank’s technology environment is very diverse, including virtually every potential computer platform, database and storage architecture.

We provided senior level consulting services to articulate the need, develop an initiative to ensure Data Resiliency, and to bring the various technical and business owners together to develop a comprehensive strategy for future development efforts.  The result of our work was a “Data Resiliency Strategy”, which provided Application Developers and Infrastructure Engineers with reference architectures, based upon overall platform and Data Resiliency requirements, which is designed to converge the large number of ad-hoc implementations into a standardized set of predictable, measurable, supportable implementations.
